Publication Description
This instrument guide shares how the survey questions used in the Shabbat Dinner Study were developed and tested, and how to think about adapting the survey instrument for use in other contexts. Our goals in sharing the survey instrument and guide are to provide the field with a set of validated scales (some new, some adapted) to measure social connectedness, which we see as a key facet of Jewish engagement; contribute to a culture in which we share tools for measurement across organizations; make visible our own theories of what Jewish engagement is and is for, so they can be contested and improved; and, finally, help non-specialists think smartly about how to adapt existing tools for measuring their own goals.
